The Misrata Municipality urged Thursday the Presidential Council of the UN-brokered government to put off the return of the Tawergha displaced community, which was supposed to start on February 01 – today.

The municipality said on its Facebook that the reason behind this delay shall be the lack of commitment of the Tawergha-Misrata committee to the items of the agreement.

It also added that some parties are using media outlets to escalate the situation, adding that such escalation led to non-implementation of the security and service preparations for the return of the IDPs.

The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj announced a month ago that February 01 will mark the start of the return of the Tawergha population to their city, which they were forced to leave seven years ago.
